Production

drappa dot is clothing of the highest quality and meanwhile fashion with an attitude towards environment and labour conditions.

The high fashion fabrics we choose are produced by well esteemed factories in France, Italy, Spain and Denmark. These factories manufacture fabrics of  'haute couture' quality meaning that only grade A cotton and linen is used and that both shape-durability and colour-fastness is the highest possible due to advanced weaving, knitting and dying processes. The dyes and additives used and the discharge from the factories comply with EU standards.

Our high fashion and basics are sewn in the Ukraine at our own Danish owned factory. At this factory sewers work 40 hours a week, overtime is paid double and workers have 3 1/2 weeks of holiday and 10 religious non-working days. The factory is well aired, humidified against dust and the factory has its own nurse. The factory is certified by FLO-cert and is approved as a producer of Fairtrade-certified cotton. In India we also produce drappa dot high fashion - and this factory is by FLO-cert approved as a producer of Fairtrade-certified cotton too. In June we visited this 25 years old family-owned factory, which for every season is producing more and more garments from organic and Fairtrade-certied cotton. They work 6 days a week and have 8 religious non-working days. For every 20 day they earn 1 holiday to spend, when they wish for. The factory has a nurse, a playroom for children and it is well aired.

drappa dot heavy knit is produced in Istanbul, Turkey. We have visited the small factories that manufacture our heavy knit. Workers work 45 hours per week, overtime is paid double and workers have 2 - 4 weeks of employer paid holidays depending on the length of service + religious non-working days .

Our next step will be focusing more on the growing of cotton and flax concerning both work conditions and the consumption of pesticides. That is why we already started producing fashion from Fairtrade certified cotton. Read more about our Fairtrade production - at "Fairtrade" in the retailer part.

We hope you will enjoy your drappa dot garments!
